Kane County Cougars News Release

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Thursday night's game between the Kane County Cougars and Cedar Rapids Kernels at Veterans Memorial Stadium was suspended by rain in the top of the 4th inning with the Cougars leading, 6-4. The game will be made up at Elfstrom Stadium during the two teams' August 13-15 series because the clubs don't play again this season in Cedar Rapids.

The Cougars scored three runs in each of the first two innings against Kernels starter Robert Fish. In the opening frame Jake Smith smashed a two-run single and Todd Johnson poked an RBI single, and in the second Michael Richard, Larry Cobb and Corey Brown each collected one RBI.

Cougars starter Jamie Richmond yielded one in the first and three in the second before exiting with one out in the third. After Jason Glushon recorded the final two outs of the frame, the umpires called for a rain delay, which lasted 1 hour, 32 minutes before the contest was suspended.

The Cougars (7-11) return home, are off Tuesday and play again Wednesday night at 6:30 CT against the Peoria Chiefs (12-7). Scott Hodsdon (4-7, 3.47) will face Kevin Kreier (3-2, 3.49).
