Dayton, Ohio-Justin Reed drilled a three-run home run and Logan Parker pounded a triple and double to lead the Dayton Dragons to a 9-1 win over the West Michigan Whitecaps on Monday night. The win allowed the Dragons to salvage a victory in the three-game series and improved their second half record to 8-11.

Dragons starting pitcher Jeremy Horst earned the win in only his second start of the year. Horst (4-2) went five innings and allowed just two hits and one run with no walks and seven strikeouts.

West Michigan took a brief lead in the top of the first inning on a solo home run by Audy Ciriaco to go ahead 1-0. The Dragons answered in the bottom of the first when Brandon Menchaca hit the first pitch of the inning for a home run to left, his fourth of the year.

Dayton jumped ahead for good in the fourth. Neftali Soto singled to right and Parker followed with a double to move Soto to third. A pair of sacrifice flies by Devin Mesoraco and Michael McKennon brought in Soto and Parker to make it 3-1.

In the sixth, Soto doubled to lead off the inning and scored on Parker's triple to make it 4-1. Parker eventually scored on a wild pitch to give the Dragons a 5-1 lead.

Dayton added four more runs in the eighth including Reed's three-run homer to close out the scoring. The home run was Reed's eighth of the year.

The Dragons are off Tuesday. They host Wisconsin on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Matt Klinker (3-4, 3.87) will start for Dayton.
