Bees Chop Down LumberKings Scoring Season-High 15 Runs

Burlington, IA (Jul 7, 2008) - The Burlington Bees recorded a new season high for both runs and hits Monday night at Community Field. The Bees used 18 hits to defeat Clinton 15-0. Jamar Walton had three hits and four RBI while Eduardo Paulino threw eight shutout innings allowing just three hits.

The Bees began their scoring in the bottom of the third inning scoring one run. With one out, Zach Evangelho doubled and then moved to third on a Ryan Eigsti fly-out. Evangelho then came home to score off an Adrian Ortiz single. The Bees added another two runs in the fourth inning. Clint Robinson led the inning off with a single and moved to second when Jason Taylor walked. David Lough then reached on an error, which scored Robinson and put Taylor at third. Taylor scored on a Juan River sacrifice fly to give the Bees a 3-0 lead.

The Bees busted the game open in the fifth inning scoring six runs. Eigsti led the inning off hitting his first professional triple and the Bees ended up sending ten batters to the plate in the inning, which featured six hits. Five separate Bees recorded an RBI in the frame.

The Bees batted around again in the sixth inning scoring four more runs on four hits to give the Bees a 13-0 lead. The Bees finished out the scoring in the seventh scoring two runs when Robinson and Taylor each scored on a Walton double.

Paulino got the start for the Bees and was spectacular. In eight innings, Paulino only allowed three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Paulino got the win to move to 5-4 on the season. Zach Peterson pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

Ten different Bees players had a hit in the game with six having multiple hits. Walton went 3-5 with a run scored and a season-high four RBI. Johnny Giavotella had three hits for the second day in a row. Rivera had three RBI while Evangelho had two.

The Bees have Tuesday off before hitting the road for nine games in 11 days. The Bees open the road trip at Great Lakes on Wednesday. Danny Duffy is the scheduled starter. First pitch is set for 6:05. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com.
