Esmerlin Jimenez named MWL Pitcher of the Week

July 7, 2008 - Kernels RHP Esmerlin Jimenez has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 6. The Midwest League Office and Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) made the announcement Monday morning.

In two starts, Jimenez had a 2-0 record and did not allow an earned run in 14 innings pitched. He allowed eight hits, walked four and struck out 11.

Jimenez is the fourth Kernel to earn Midwest League weekly honors. LHP Michael Anton was named the MWL Pitcher of the Week on May 12, OF Jeremy Moore was named the MWL Player of the Week on June 9 and OF Tyler Johnson was named MWL Player of the Week on June 29.

The Kernels wrap up a three game series tonight against Kane County at 7 pm.
