Hawks take two of three from Wizards

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release


The South Bend Silver Hawks won game 3 of their series against Fort Wayne tonight by the score of 6-0. South Bend ended up taking 2 out of 3 from the Wizards.

South Bend started off strong in the 1st inning when Taylor Harbin crushed a 2-run homerun off of Matt Teague. The Hawks added 2 runs in the 5th and 7th to put the game away.

Tom Layne (3-2) took the win tonight. The spot starter gave up 0 runs and 4 hits in 5 innings of work. The combination of Bryan Henry, Jeff Dietz and Billy Spottiswood preserved the shutout.

Jo Jo Batten had a stellar night at the plate. Batten went 3 for 4 and scored 3 times. Harbin and Konrad Schmidt led the way with 2 RBI's apiece.

The Silver Hawks will have an off day on Tuesday and will begin a 3 game series against the Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday. Game time is slated for 7:00 PM.
