Kane County Cougars News Release

Fort Wayne, IN – The Kane County Cougars' offense continued to falter in Fort Wayne, this time in a 1-0 loss to the Wizards Friday night at Memorial Stadium. The Cougars drew six walks and Raul Padron's infield single in the ninth was the only base hit for the visitors.

Cougars starter Ryan Webb allowed a first-inning run after the Wizards got two walks, stole a total of three bases, and received a sacrifice fly by Colt Morton for the 1-0 game that became the final. The Cougars had a good scoring chance in the fourth after two walks with nobody out but couldn't score. They also loaded the bases in the sixth with one out before squandering the chance. Myron Leslie got a one-out free pass in the ninth. After Kory Wayment came in to run for Leslie, Padron's bouncer evaded second baseman Sean Kazmar for the only Cougar base knock. Wes Long ran for Padron but the next two batters struck out to end the game.

Webb (3-3) takes the hard-luck loss for the Cougars (19-21) and Luke Steidlmayer (4-1) got the win for the Wizards (22-17) after 5 1/3 innings of no-hit ball. Three relievers then finished for Fort Wayne, as Matt Varner got the save (12). Game three is Saturday night at 6 CDT. Ryan Ford (4-2, 5.08) goes against left-hander Fabian Jimenez (3-3, 4.59).
