
Five Rattler pitchers shut out Clinton, 4-0

FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Five Wisconsin Timber Rattler pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout of the Clinton LumberKings Friday afternoon. Mark Lowe, Cibney Bello, Steve Grasley, Kendall Bergdall, and Craig James held Clinton down in the 4-0 Wisconsin win. Asdrubal Cabrera drove in a pair of runs for the offense as the Rattlers moved to within two games of the Western Division leading LumberKings.
Lowe started the game for the Timber Rattlers and the first batter for Clinton (25-16) reached on an error. Lowe retired the next eleven batters and worked four innings without allowing a hit. Lowe left after reaching his pitch limit.
Bello entered in the top of the fifth and gave up a two out single to Ian Gac for the first LumberKing hit, but got out of the inning with the game still scoreless.
Wisconsin (23-18) got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jack Arroyo's infield ground out knocked in the first run. Cabrera drew a bases loaded walk to force the second run of the inning across the plate. Then, Mike Wilson's pop up behind the mound dropped in for an RBI infield single to make the score 3-0.
Bello made it interesting in the top of the sixth. He walked three straight batters with one out. Grasley entered and got the final two outs of the inning. Grasley worked 2-1/3 innings total and retired all seven batters he faced with three strikeouts.
Cabrera made the score 4-0 with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh.
Bergdall entered the game with two out in the top of the eighth inning and walked the first batter he faced, but got the final out. He would get the first two outs of the ninth before giving up an infield single to Emerson Frostad and walking another batter. James came in, got the final out on a fly ball to left, and picked up his third save of the season.
Game three is of the series is set for Saturday afternoon. Aaron Jensen (2-4, 4.20ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Eric Hurley (4-1, 3.46ERA) will start for the LumberKings. Game time is 1:05pm.
