DAYTON, OH - The Dayton Development Coalition, in their second year of sponsoring the Hometown Heroes program with the Dayton Dragons, will be hosting families of deployed personnel at Fifth Third Field, on Saturday, May 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Included in this day will be a private autograph party with the Dayton Dragons players and coaches; an array of activities and skill stations (inflatable games, throwing, hitting, and running stations); characture artists, Dragons mascots Heater and Gem, face painters, complimentary food and drinks, prizes, music, and a complimentary Dragons hat and team poster for everyone in attendance.

Tickets for this event were provided by Dayton Development Coalition to the Family Support Center located at WPAFB. Over 1,000 tickets were distributed on the base.

"The Coalition takes great pride in the Hometown Heroes program," noted Coalition President, JP Nauseef. "It is an honor to have the chance to show sincere gratitude to these families who have sacrificed time with their loved ones so that they may protect our freedoms, and develop programs that enrich the quality of life in the Dayton Region."

The Hometown Hero program, sponsored by the Dayton Development Coalition, is a season-long tribute to the military men and women of the Miami Valley who safeguard and support our nation's defense.

Each Dragons home game a deployed soldier's family is provided with VIP treatment which includes game tickets, parking passes, a stadium tour, Dragons souvenirs, a photo on the stadium field, and complimentary food and beverages.

Seven times during the season the Dayton Development Coalition will sponsor a video greeting card during an inning break at a Dragons game. A video of a Miami Valley deployed soldier will be shown on the Dragons video board, while his/her family is escorted onto the field.

"It really makes you step back from all of the things in your daily life as look at the sacrifices that these families are making," noted Dragons President Robert Murphy. "We think it is outstanding that the Dayton Development Coalition is recognizing not only the sacrifices of our military personnel, but the people who left at home."
