Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL â The Kane County Cougars put Summer into full swing next week, as the Memorial Day weekend will keep fans exploding with excitement over the four-day stretch, which brings the Lansing Lugnuts (Toronto Blue Jays) to Geneva. Carrying the team into the weekend, Jake the Diamond Dog will ignite the festivities, as he wags his way into town on Monday, May 23. In honor of the holiday weekend, the Cougars will host their annual Military Appreciation Weekend, with special events making tribute to past and present members of the armed forces. Generating awareness and funds for the Illinois Military Family Relief Fund and Operation Home Front, Kane County is currently running an online auction for a day in Elfstrom Stadium's hot tub and will hold a silent auction at the ballpark Monday, May 30, giving fans the opportunity to bid on participating in on-field events and make a contribution to a great cause at the same time. Throughout the entire weekend, past and present members of all service branches will receive discounted tickets when they show proper military I.D. at the ballpark ticket windows, based on ticket availability. Fans are encouraged to show their support by bringing items for care packages which will be sent to U.S. service members around the world (a list of suggested items is available on our web site at www.kccougars.com). Highlights of the holiday weekend include fireworks shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and special appearances by Myron Noodleman (Friday), Zooperstars and Skydivers (Saturday) and a fly-over by the Naperville based Lima Lima Flight Team, Birdzerk and the Jesse White Tumblers (Sunday).
