Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (May 20, 2005) - The Kansas City Royals have promoted Burlington Bees outfielder Darwinson Salazar to the High Desert Mavericks in the California League. Salazar will fill in for former Bee Mitch Maier who suffered a hamstring injury in last night's game at Inland Empire. Salazar has started at all three outfield positions for the Bees and is hitting .185 with a homer and four RBI in 26 games.

Salazar will not be immediately replaced on the Bees active roster, leaving the team with 24 active players for tonight's contest against the Swing of the Quad Cities at 7:00 at Community Field. The Bees will send RH Patrick Green to the mound to try to halt the Swing's seven-game winning streak. The gates will open at 6:00 for a TGI Bud Night, featuring 2-for-$3 specials on all 12oz. cans of Budweiser products throughout the game. The game will also be broadcast live on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 6:40.
