Cougars Come Back to Beat Giants

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants dropped a 6-4 decision to the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night at the Pacific Coliseum. Thomas Foster had two goals while Trevor Cox and Ty Ronning also scored for the Giants in the loss.

The Cougars jumped out to an early lead when Jesse Gabrielle scored his 28th of the season. Cox answered back for the Giants, beating Cougars net minder Ty Edmonds between the legs. Before the end of the opening frame, the Cougars went back on top with a goal from Brad Morrison.

The Giants came out of the intermission with two goals in the first 45 seconds of the middle stanza to go up 3-2 when Foster and Ronning both rippled the mesh. Ronning goal was his team leading 26th of the season. The Cougars responded minutes later when Chase Witala tied the score at 3-3. Foster added his second power play goal of the game to put the Giants ahead 4-3 going into the third.

Early in the final frame, the Cougars tied the game with a goal from Kody McDonald. The Cougars reestablished their lead minutes later when Morrison scored his second of the game. He would add an empty netter to complete the hat-trick.

Vancouver will be back in action on Monday afternoon in Portland against the Winterhawks. Puck drop is at 3:00pm.
