Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Greenville Swamp Rabbits rang in the New Year behind Brendan Connolly's two goals as the Swamp Rabbits topped the South Carolina Stingrays, 3-1. With the victory the Swamp Rabbits improve to a 3-3-0-1 record.

The Swamp Rabbits scored first and it came on the power play from Brendan Connolly. On a rebound with 3:27 left in the first period, Connolly's power play marker broke a 0-for-15 drought on the man-advantage.

Next period, the Stingrays would tie the game at 1-1 with a wrist shot from the high slot from Cole Ully with 8:48 left in the second period. Greenville would quickly answer Ully's equalizer with a go-ahead goal and eventual game-winning goal from Max Zimmer.

A step inside the offensive zone from the right wing, Zimmer scored his first goal for the Rabbits and his first professional goal with a skipping shot past Hunter Shepard. Greenville carried a 2-1 advantage into the dressing room after 40 minutes.

In the final period, Connolly provided his club insurance after a steal and score while shorthanded at the 5:29 mark. The Swamp Rabbits finished the night with a 27-25 shot advantage over South Carolina in addition to the 3-1 final margin. Greenville's power play finished 1-for-6 and a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits return to action on Wednesday night at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Swamp Rabbits will welcome the Wheeling Nailers to the Upstate for the first time this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Ticket information is available online at SwampRabbits.com.
