West Valley City, Utah - The Bakersfield Condors defeated the Utah Grizzlies 5-0 at Maverik Center Friday evening before an opening night crowd of 5,228. Utah outshot Bakersfield 35-16 in the contest.

"I haven't seen a shot board like that in our favor and lose a game," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "I thought we outplayed them, but they scored timely goals on our mistakes. The effort was there. "

Bakersfield went up 1-0 at 8:46 of the first period as a Utah power-play expired. Forward Adam Naglich, leaving the penalty box, picked up a puck and went straight towards the net. A bad bounce off of the back wall, went directly in front and was knocked home by the Condors at 12:19 of the first period to make it 2-0.

The Condors knocked home two pucks in 2:36 in the second period to build a 4-0 lead as quick setups led to scores. They made it 5-0 on the power-play in the third period.

The Grizzlies and Condors rematch for Utah's fifth annual "Pink in the Rink" game for breast cancer awareness Saturday. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
