Goaltender Ford Recalled to Hershey

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that goaltender Todd Ford has been called up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

Ford, 26, appeared in one game this season going 0-1-0 with a goals-against average of 8.32 and a .643 save percentage. Last season, the Calgary, AB native went 18-7-2 with the Stingrays and ranked fifth in the ECHL with a 2.79 GAA and second with a .910 save percentage. A third round draft pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Ford was named the 2010 ECHL Goaltender of the Year, voted a starting goaltender in the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game and was selected to the First Team All-ECHL team.

Ford also appeared in 15 games in the AHL last season with Texas and Portland, going 7-5-1 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.51 and a save percentage of .920.

The Stingrays travel to the Upstate to battle the Greenville Road Warriors for the first time in team history on Sunday, October 24 at 4:05 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center.
