STOCKTON, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, dropped their first game of the season 3-1 to the Stockton Thunder in front of 4,577 at Stockton Arena.

It was an exciting first period as the Reign and Thunder totaled 29 shots and 11 power plays between the teams. Like last Saturday's match, the teams went to the locker room with the Thunder up 2-0, but unlike last Saturday's game, the Reign couldn't overcome the deficit.

Reign goaltender Kellen Briggs (1-1) made some spectacular saves in the loss, but Stockton controlled play much of the game and Thunder goaltender Tyson Sexsmith stopped 23 of the 24 shots that came his way.

Ontario's only goal came when Jon Francisco tipped a David Walker slap shot past Sexsmith in the third to cut the Thunder's lead to 3-1. All four goals of the night were scored on the power play.
