Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. â Seven different players scored for the Bakersfield Condors as they won a fourth consecutive game, 7-4 over the Alaska Aces in front of 3,022 fans at Centennial Garden on Tuesday night.
The Aces opened the scoring at 12:58 of the first period with a Wes Dorey goal. Former Condor Denis Ladouceur set up the play with a centering feed, collecting a point against his former team. Jason Ralph's 19th goal of the season tied the game at 1-1 on the power play just under a minute later. Nearly as quick, Alaska regained the lead with a goal by Joe Talbot, and the Aces had a 2-1 advantage after 20 minutes.
The rest of the game belonged to Bakersfield. The Condors scored three times in the second period and took the lead twice. Andrew Ianiero tied the game at 2-2 on the team's first shot of the period at 5:51. Kevin Riehl's blast from the top of the left circle at 12:44 gave the Condors their first lead of the game. Charles Linglet tied the game back up with a 4-on-4 goal for the Aces at 15:50, but it didn't last long. Just 1:20 later, while on the power play, Paul Rosebush crashed the net and slipped his 13th of the season past Aces G Lance Mayes to push Bakersfield back in front, 4-3. The Condors captain has scored in four straight games.
A fluke Aces goal tied the game again in the third. Jonathan Gauthier's blast from the neutral zone hit Condors G Shane Bendera and hopped over his shoulder and into the net for the equalizer at 3:54. Rather than fall apart, however, after losing their second lead of the night, Bakersfield persevered. Newcomer Valdemar Pelikovsky, acquired from the Aces just last Thursday, scored what proved to be the game winner against his former team, at 9:03 of the third period by pounding home a loose puck in front of the net. Johan Astrom added an insurance tally at 10:30 to become the first Condor to reach 20 goals on the season. Mike Barrie extended his goal streak to four games when he tallied an empty netter at 18:53 for the final margin.
Bakersfield trails Alaska for fourth place in the Pacific Division by 12 points. They have gained nine points on the Aces in the last 14 days and have three more head-to-head meetings, including this Saturday at Centennial Garden.
On Friday night, the Long Beach Ice Dogs come to town for a 7:00pm start at Centennial Garden. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Condors #29 matchbox car, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, KUZZ 107.9 and Pepsi.
