Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx announced Wednesday that they have completed a deal with the Florida Everblades, acquiring tough left winger Stuart Pietersma for Paul Vincent.

Pietersma, 23, has earned a reputation for his aggressive play since turning pro last season, notching 522 career PIMs in 102 games over the past two seasons with Mississippi, Wheeling, and Florida. He has also chipped in eight goals and 17 points as well.

"With the injuries we've had to Greenough and O'Connor, we needed to bring in a guy who would add size on the wing," said Lynx Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Stan Drulia. "He's a straight, up and down type of player who sticks up for his teammates and is willing to pay the price."

Drulia also said that Pietersma's availability was surprising.

"I got a phone call this morning at 8 am from Florida," he said. "They expressed interest in Paul, and Pietersma fits into our needs, and our concept of team toughness, perfectly."

Vincent, meanwhile, was in his second tour of duty with the Lynx, having played in 26 games with the team during the 2000-01 Season, scoring 18 goals and 43 points the first time around. This time the Utica, NY native had six goals and 21 points in 20 games, including five multiple-point efforts.

Pietersma will join the Lynx this weekend as they take to the ice against South Carolina Thursday at 7:05 pm, followed by a visit from the Greensboro Generals on Friday night at 7:35 pm. Saturday the Lynx round out the week with a trip to Greenville to battle the Grrrowl at 7:05 pm. All games can be heard live on EAGLE 102.
