Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have claimed defenseman Wes Swinson off of waivers from the Texas Wildcatters.

The Peterborough, Ontario native began the season with the Augusta Lynx where he tallied 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 37 games with the Lynx. Swinson returned to the Lynx following a nullified trade to the Cincinnati Cyclones before being claimed off of waivers by the Texas Wildcatters on February 6th.

Selected by Hartford Whalers in the 10th round, 240th overall in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Swinson tallied 216 points in four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Kitchener Rangers and the Kingston Frontenacs.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenseman split time last season between the Bakersfield Condors, now of the ECHL, and overseas in Europe in Holland with the Amsterdam Tigers. Swinson also has 50 games of American Hockey League and former International Hockey League experience with three different teams.

Swinson should be available for the Gladiators 7:35 p.m. start on Friday against the Greenville Grrrowl.
