This Week
Saturday, November 27 vs. Victoria
Sunday, November 28 @ San Diego
Last week Condors 2, SAN DIEGO 1 (OT)
San Diego scored in the first three minutes to take an early lead, one that would last until the final 11 minutes of regulation. At that time, rookie Connor James angled a centering feed from Lars-Peder Nagel past Gulls G Trevor Koenig for the tying tally. In the extra session, Mike Hofstrand gathered in a loose puck between the circles and buried his fourth of the season to lift Bakersfield to the win and improve to 3- 0-0 against the Gulls.
CONDORS 5, Las Vegas 4; attendance: 4,174
David Kudelka recorded his first two scores of the season and Kevin St. Jacques put up a goal and an assist as the Condors ran their record to 8-0 against the West Division with a 5-4 triumph over the Las Vegas Wranglers. The back and forth affair had the teams swap scores through two frames, with Bakersfield scoring twice in the third to hold off the visitors. Yutaka Fukufuji earned the win after relieving the injured Randy Petruk.
LONG BEACH 5, Condors 2
The Condors undefeated streak came to a screeching halt on Saturday night with a 5-2 loss at the hands of the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Kevin St. Jacques and Brad Mehalko each had a goal and an assist in the loss, while Yutaka Fukufuji made 36 saves in the loss, while Bakersfield had a season high 48 shots on goal themselves. The Condors are 1-1 this season against Long Beach.
This week
The Condors will play a pair of games after the Thanksgiving holiday, on Saturday at home and Sunday in San Diego. Saturday¡¦s match against Victoria is the famous Teddy Bear Toss, sponsored by 29 Eyewitness News, KERN 1410 and Wells Fargo Bank. Everyone is encouraged to bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game, and when the Condors score their first goal of the night throw them on the ice. They will be collected by the United Way and distributed to children in need throughout the holiday season. In addition, Wells Fargo will donate an additional 1,000 Plush Ponies to the cause, and anyone interested in obtaining one can contact any local Wells Fargo branch. Sunday¡¦s match in San Diego starts at 5:05 p.m. All games, home and away, can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230.
Where we are
The Condors rank first in the West Division with 19 points on the season and second in the National Conference. They were surpassed by the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (9-4-2) from the North Division, who have 20 points on the year and have played four more games than Bakersfield. The Charlotte Checkers (10-2-1, 21pts) also are ranked higher in the ECHL, but neither team has an advantage over the Condors in winning percentage.
