Bakersfield Condors News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - G Yutaka Fukufuji made 47 saves and F Tim Konsorada scored twice to lead the Bakersfield Condors to a 3-1 triumph over the Utah Grizzlies in front of 4,726 fans at the E Center Saturday night.
In a physical first period, the Condors (15-25-9, 39 points) drew first blood. F Tim Konsorada ripped home his 25th of the season, on a two-man advantage, to make it 1-0 at 10:17. Utah (27-20-5, 59 points) led in shots during the period 10-7. The Grizzlies went with G Nathan Lawson between the pipes and the Condors started G Yutaka Fukufuji.
An early power play in the second period yielded the Condors second goal of the night. Konsorada pocketed his 26th of the season at 1:06. Fukufuji was strong in the period, stopping 19 shots and helping Bakersfield kill off four power plays in the frame. RW Todd Griffith punched in his 12th of the season with less than a minute to go in the period to build a 3-0 advantage after two.
Bakersfield held the lead in the third period, despite a 19-4 shot advantage for the Grizzlies. The physical play came to a head with just over five minutes left in the game, as a line brawl erupted on the ice. When the dust settled 102 minutes in penalties had been handed out. A late goal by Utah ended Fukufuji's shut out bid with just 1:24 remaining, but the Condors took home the win.
Bakersfield finished the three-game series in Utah 2-1-0, with Fukufuji picking up both wins in his return from the Injured Reserve.
