
Wranglers comeback on Salmon Kings, win 5-3

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (34-10-7, 75 Points) defeated the Victoria Salmon Kings (31-14-5, 67 Points) 5-3 in front of 5,671 fans at the Orleans Arena on Saturday night. Las Vegas left wing Bruce Mulherin scored twice as the Wranglers came back from a 3-1 deficit for the win. Center Tyler Mosienko scored the game-winning goal with 10-seconds to go in the second period. Forwards Ryan Donally and Peter Ferraro each scored a goal and added an assist as the Wranglers improved to 15-4-5 at home this season. Goalie Daniel Manzato relieved Kevin Lalande early in the second period, earning the win by stopping all ten Victoria shots the rest of the game. Center Chris Ferraro and left wing Kelly Czuy each dished out two assists in the win. With the victory, the Wranglers regain their eight-point lead over the Salmon Kings for the top spot in the National Conference. The Wranglers outshot the Salmon Kings 45-21 for the game. Victoria goalie BillyThompson took the loss, stopping 40 of 44 Wranglers shots. Las Vegas will host Bakersfield at 7:05 pm on Monday night.
In the first period, Victoria jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Robin Gomez at 7:35 and Kiel McLeod at 12:01. Las Vegas was able to trim the Salmon Kings lead in half as Bruce Mulherin scored his 11th goal of the season at 14:12. Kelly Czuy had the lone assists as the Wranglers pulled within a goal at 2-1.
In the second period, Victoria defenseman Dylan Yeo scored his seventh goal of the season at 6:18, giving the Salmon Kings a 3-1 lead. The goal ended Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande's night, as he was pulled in favor of Daniel Manzato. Lalande finished the night with eight saves on 11 shots. The Wranglers answered back with two power-play goals in a 1:04 span. Left wing Ryan Donally scored his tenth goal of the season off a rebound at 8:11, pulling the Las Vegas back toa one-goal deficit at 3-2. The Ferraro twins assisted on Donally's power-play tally. Just over a minute later, Las Vegas tied the game 3-3 with a tally by Peter Ferraro. Donally and Chris Ferraro assisted on the game-tying goal at 9:15. With only ten-seconds remaining in the middle frame, center Tyler Mosienko picked off an errant Victoria pass, raced in and beat Salmon Kings goalie Billy Thompson with a wrist shot. Mosienko's 17th goal of the season was unassisted and proved to be the eventual game winner.
Mulherin scored his second goal of the night, firing the puck into an empty net with 41-seconds remaining in the game for the 5-3 final.
The Wranglers will also host Bakersfield at 7:05 pm on Monday, February 18th to conclude a three-game home stand. Las Vegas will then embark on an 11-day road trip with three games in Alaska and Victoria.
