Columbus Blue Jackets Assign Defenseman Julius Bergman to Monsters

CLEVELAND - The AHL's Cleveland Monsters announced Friday that the team's NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets, assigned defenseman Julius Bergman to the Monsters. A 6'2", 194 lb. right-shooting native of Stockholm, Sweden, Bergman, 23, was acquired by Columbus as part of Friday's multi-player trade between the Ottawa Senators and the Blue Jackets and was orginally selected by the San Jose Sharks in the second round (46th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

In 33 appearances for the AHL's Belleville Senators this season, Bergman posted 0-6-6 with 12 penalty minutes and a -9 rating. In 223 career AHL appearances for the Worcester Sharks, San Jose Barracuda and Belleville, Bergman registered 16-51-67 with 151 penalty minutes and a -29 rating. In 2013-14, Bergman appeared in one SHL game for Frolunda HC, notching two penalty minutes and a +1 rating.

Prior to his professional career, Bergman supplied 13-29-42 with 78 penalty minutes and a -3 rating in 60 OHL appearances for the London Knights and represented Sweden at the 2015 IIHF U20 World Junior Championships.
