Comets Sign Mike Szmatula to a PTO

Utica, N.Y. - Utica Comets General Manager Ryan Johnson announced today that the club has signed forward Mike Szmatula to a professional tryout contract.
Szmatula, 26, has skated in 39 points (24-15-39) in 48 games with the Adirondack Thunder this season. The forward also dressed in two games with the Stockton Heat this year.
Prior to turning pro, the Commerce Township, MI. native played four seasons split between Northeastern University and the University of Minnesota, racking up 108 points (47-61-108) in 139 games.
