Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
The Clones scored early and often as they downed the Nailers 4-1 on Wednesday night at U.S. Bank Arena. The loss marked just the second regulation defeat of the Nailers this season. Randy Petruk stopped 17 of 18 Wheeling shots in the win.
The Clones jumped on the Nailers early as Jason Norrie scored with 1:03 gone in the first period. Norrie's unassisted goal was his second in his last two games. Wheeling's Brendon Hodge answered with 5:55 gone in the first to tie the game at one.
Two Clones goals in the second period gave the team a lead they would never relinquish. Derrick Byfuglien scored off a face-off to give the Clones a 2-1 lead. Josh Harrold added a power-play marker to give the Clones a 3-1 lead at the end of the second.
Connor Dunlop, making his pro debut, scored into an empty Wheeling net to cement the Cyclones' fifth win of the season. Dunlop also assisted on Byfuglien's second period goal.
The Clones are back in action on Friday at Idaho. The Clones return to U.S. Bank Arena on November 14th for a match-up with the Peoria Rivermen.
