
Wranglers Fall in OT, 5-4, to the Everblades

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers lost in overtime at home on Tuesday night 5-4 to the Florida Everblades. Florida's Reggie Berg scored the game-winning goal with 1:44 passed in overtime. Jason McBain (1G-2A) and Greg Day (3A) each had a three-point night in the Wranglers' first defeat at home. Las Vegas still earns a point in the standings with the overtime loss and continues to remain unbeaten (5-0-1) in regulation at the Orleans Arena this season. The Wranglers will host the Alaska Aces at 7:05 on Wednesday night.
Florida opened the scoring with two power-play goals in the first period by Paul Esdale and Matt Pagnutti. The Wranglers countered with two late goals in the first period by Chris Kenady and Doug Wright for a 2-2 score after one period of play.
In the second period the two teams traded goals. First Las Vegas' Nathan Horne blasted a shot from the point that deflected off traffic for a 3-2 Wranglers' lead. Florida countered as Chad Larose beat Marc Magliarditi tying the game at three.
In the final period, Florida took a 4-3 lead when Keith Anderson connected for a power-play goal. The Wranglers tied the game with 18 seconds left when Jason McBain shot the puck from the point beating Florida's Rob Zepp at 19:41.
In overtime, Berg picked off a Wranglers' clearing pass and walked in for the game-winning goal for the final score of 5-4.
The loss marked the first of the season for the Wranglers who will host their Pacific Division rival Alaska at 7:05. Las Vegas' Greg Day reclaims the top spot in the scoring race for the league with 17 points in nine games. Florida's Keith Anderson falls to second with only a goal and an assist on the night, finishing with 16 points. Wranglers' winger Justin Kelly extended his league-high scoring streak to nine straight games with an assist.
