BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (April 2, 2012) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are proud to announce that forward Casey Cizikas has been named the team's winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the community.

Cizikas, 21, earns the honor during his first professional season. The rookie forward has made many contributions to the Sound Tigers community, most notably working with children from St. Vincent's Special Needs Services in Trumbull, Conn. Cizikas and the entire Sound Tigers team traveled to the special needs school early in the season and Cizikas continued to work with the children through the year, taking time after practices to skate with some of the kids at Webster Bank Arena.

Cizikas' contributions also included trips to Ronald McDonald House in New Haven, Conn. where he and fellow Sound Tigers teammates prepared meals for families whose children were in residence at nearby Yale/New Haven Hospital. Cizikas took time earlier in the season to skate with youth hockey teams during practices held at local area rinks as well as Webster Bank Arena.

The first-year Sound Tiger is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL's 2011-12 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.

The Sound Tigers continue their eight-game homestand on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. against the Springfield Falcons for Spring Fun 102, followed by games on Friday and Saturday nights against Syracuse and Providence. For more information on tickets or group outings, call the Sound Tigers at (203) 345-2300 or e-mail info@soundtigers.com.
