Admirals Sign Maxime Langelier-Parent to AHL Contract

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals signed forward Maxime Langelier-Parent (mak-SEEM lan-zhuh-LEER PAIR-ahn) to a one-year American Hockey League Standard Player's Contract, Admirals General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today. The contract goes into effect next season and includes a club option for 2013-14. Langelier-Parent is expected to report to Norfolk on an Amateur Tryout Contract later this month after completing his final exams at McGill University.

Langelier-Parent, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound center from L�ry, Qu�bec, scored 12 goals and 18 points in 28 regular season games for McGill. He helped the Redmen to their first-ever Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national championship on March 25. In 45 games overall in 2011-12, Langelier-Parent had 16 goals and 32 points with 97 penalty minutes, two power play goals and four game-winning goals. He also set a school record with six shorthanded goals in 2011-12.

Langelier-Parent, an alternate captain who is expected to graduate this spring with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, posted 47 goals and 117 points with 316 penalty minutes in 174 games during his four seasons with McGill. He has also tallied a school record 11 shorthanded goals and 10 game-winning markers.

Before playing for the Redmen, he toiled for three teams in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, with Victoriaville, St. John's and Gatineau, posting a five goals and 11 points in 53 games between 2004 and 2006. He then played for College Fran� - ais, the Longueuil-based club in the Quebec Jr. AAA league, where he scored 24 goals and 59 points in 50 games in 2007-08.

The Admirals return Scope tomorrow night in search of their 23rd consecutive win as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins visit Norfolk for the final time in the regular season. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. in the final Admirals Value Night of 2011-12.
