Wolves Receive Corrado from Canucks, Sign Cannata

The Vancouver Canucks have assigned defenseman FRANK CORRADO to the Chicago Wolves. In addition, the Wolves have signed goaltender JOE CANNATA to an Amateur Tryout Contract (ATO).

CORRADO completed his third Ontario Hockey League season on March 28 when the Sudbury Wolves were swept, 4-games-to-0, by the Brampton Battalion in the first round of the OHL's Eastern Conference Championship. He recorded 12 penalty minutes in four postseason games.

The 19-year-old defenseman ranked third among Sudbury blueliners with 23 assists and shared second among team rear guards with 26 points in 60 regular-season outings. He also paced Sudbury and shared 11th among OHL defensemen with a +26 plus/minus rating. Overall, the Vancouver Canucks sixth choice, 150th overall, in the 2011 National Hockey League Entry Draft recorded 57 assists, 65 points, and 221 penalty minutes in 190 career OHL games with Sudbury spanning three seasons (2009-12).

CANNATA completed his senior campaign at Merrimack College (Hockey East) this year, posting a 17-12-7 record, and career-bests 2.18 goals-against average and .925 save percentage in 36 contests. His 2.18 goals-against average ranked 14th in the NCAA, while his .925 save percentage held 11th nationally.

Overall, the 22-year-old netminder notched a 59-46-16 mark, 2.47 goals-against average,s and .915 save percentage in 122 career games with Merrimack College spanning four seasons (2008-12). The Wakefield, Mass., native's 59 victories set the school record for most career wins by a goaltender.
