Penguins Assign Samuelsson to Nailers

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - It was announced today that defenseman Philip Samuelsson has been re-assigned to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Samuelsson rejoins Wheeling as the team begins the first round of the Kelly Cup playoffs with Game 1 tomorrow against the Kalamazoo Wings. He has recorded one assist and 11 penalty minutes over five contests with the Nailers. Samuelsson has also skated in 43 games this season for the Penguins, compiling a goal and seven assists.

Samuelsson is in his first year of professional hockey after skating two seasons with Boston College. The 20-year-old native of Leksand, Sweden earned an NCAA Championship in 2010 during his freshman year with Eagles.
