Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

COMING UP: The Cincinnati Cyclones (27-18-2-2) open a seven game road trip that will take the team through Reading and Trenton this week, before heading out to California next week for four games. The Cyclones are at Reading on Wednesday (Feb. 21) for a 6:35pm clash with the Royals, before heading to Trenton for two games with the second place Titans, Friday (Feb. 23) and Saturday (Feb. 24). Cincinnati opens the week with a five point lead over second place Trenton.

WHAT A WEEK THAT WAS!: The Cyclones went 3-1 last week, starting with a 5-3 loss to Reading on Wednesday night (Feb. 14). Sam Ftorek, Scott Reynolds and Avery Wilson all netted goals. Friday night (Feb. 16), Cincinnati picked up a 5-4 overtime win over Johnstown. Jean-Michel Daoust collected a pair of goals and three assists to help account for all the scoring. Saturday night (Feb. 17), the Cyclones traveled to Johnstown and took a 7-4 win out of the Cambria County War Memorial. Daoust registered the first hat trick of the season and Jason Deitsch collected four assists. Sunday (Feb. 18), Cincinnati claimed a 3-1 win at U.S. Bank Arena. Travis Lisabeth and Mike Wirll scored the goals and Reynolds added the insurance marker for the win.

WHEELING AND DEALING: The Cincinnati Cyclones roster had seven of its 20 players disappear since the start of last week. On Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Cyclones completed a trade with the Pensacola Ice Pilots, that involved five players and the reassignment of another. The Cyclones acquire forwards Travis Lisabeth and Mike Wirll and Bridgeport (AHL) agreed to reassign defenseman Jason Goulet from Pensacola to Cincinnati. The Ice Pilots received, defenseman Jarred Mohr and forwards Torry Gajda and Erik Johnson. Thursday (Feb. 15), goaltender Cedrick Desjardins was recalled by Hamilton (AHL) and yesterday, forward Jimmy Bonneau got the call to go to Hamilton. Sunday's (Feb. 18) transactions were with Mathieu Aubin (Hamilton) and Nick Martens (Bridgeport) and that pushes the number of changes for the week to seven.

COMEBACK KIDS: The Cyclones rallied from a 4-2 deficit both Friday and Saturday night to bounce back for wins against Johnstown. Saturday night (Feb. 17), a four goal third period explosion blew Cincinnati past the Chiefs. Friday night (Feb. 16), a Cyclones goal in the first minute of the third period tied the game and Jean-Michel Daoust's goal in the final nine seconds of the overtime gave the club the win. It is the first time in club history that the team trailed by two goals in consecutive games to bounce back for victories.

DAOUST TO THE RESCUE: Cyclones forward Jean-Michel Daoust was a part of all the scoring in the 5-4 overtime win over Johnstown Friday night (Feb. 16). Daoust scored a four-on-four goal early in the third period to knot the game at four-all and then scored with 8.9 seconds to go in the extra frame to give Cincinnati the victory. Saturday night (Feb. 17), Daoust registered the club's first hat trick since Terry Marchant scored in overtime to give the Cyclones a 4-3 win on January 28, 2004.

HOME, SWEET HOME: The Cyclones are 14-3-3 (.775 winning percentage) at U.S. Bank Arena since Nov. 18.

NINE OVER!: The Cyclones are nine games above the .500 mark with a record of 27-18-2-2. It is the first time the club has been nine since February 26, 2003--when the club was 28-19-6, following a 6-5 shootout win over Louisiana. The team has not been ten games above the break even point since it has been in Cincinnati. The last time this club was ten games over .500 was when it was known as the Louisville RiverFrogs and its was the inaugural season of the franchise in 1995-96. The final day of the season (March 24, 1996)--the club finished, ironically, with a 4-3 overtime win over Toledo to move 15 games above the break even point at 39-24-7.
