Dayton Bombers News Release

BOMBERS NOTES

*What A Crazy Weekend in Dayton! The Bombers played three home games in two locations in a span of four days this weekend. On Friday, the Bombers beat the Royals 5-2 at the EJ Nutter Center. Saturday, the Bombers and Royals had to play the game at historic Hobart Arena in Troy, Ohio, due to the Wright State University Men's basketball game that was being shown nationally by ESPN. Then on Sunday, the Bombers returned to the Nutter Center to take on the Columbia Inferno. Both teams made it through the first period and the first four minutes of the second, but the ice was deemed unsafe for both goaltenders and the game had to be continued on Monday Morning again at the Nutter Center, the Bombers won 4-3 in OT.

*Tifu Goes Streaking Again! Leading scorer Yannick Tifu recorded a point in each of the three games this past week to extend his season high scoring streak to 11 straight games. The Bombers are 6-5-0 over that span and Tifu has a total of 15 points in those 11 games on five goals and 10 assists.

*Another Bomber First! Rookie Trevor Frischmon recorded his first career game winning goal in the Bombers 4-3 overtime win over the Columbia Inferno. Frischmon, who just returned to the lineup on Friday after being reassigned by the "AAA" Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League had a fantastic weekend, recording five points (2 G, 3 A) in three games.

*Comeback Kids! After trailing the Reading Royals 2-0 early in the first period on Friday, the Bombers came back with five unanswered goals and won 5-2. Then on Saturday, the Bombers trailed the Royals again this time in the third period, although the Bombers came back to tie they fell just short in a tough 2-1 loss. The theme continued on Sunday, after taking a 1-0 lead over the Inferno, the Bombers suddenly trailed 2-1 before tying the game at 2-2. Columbia took a 3-2 lead before the Bombers tied the game at 3-3 and went onto win it in overtime 4-3.

* Bombs Away! The Bombers put up a total of 119 shots on goal in their three games this weekend (39.7 avg.). They continue to lead the ECHL in least shots against, only allowing 26.49 per game.

* Division Race Heats Up Again! Only six points separate the Bombers (52 pts.) from the top spot (Cincinnati 58 pts.) in the North Division and only 17 points separate the division from top to bottom. The Bombers are currently in third place but only one point out of second place(Trenton 53 pts.) and six points out of first (Cincinnati 58 pts.). With a Bombers victory over the Titans in regulation tomorrow night, the Bombers would move into second place with 54 points and only be four points out of first place. But this race is far from over, Toledo is only one point behind the Bombers with 51, Reading is only two points back with 50 and Johnstown is only three points in back of the Bombers with 49. Only the top five teams in the North will qualify for the playoffs.

IMPORTANT WEEK AHEAD! Dayton returns to the ice tomorrow night, as they take on the Trenton Titans at the Nutter Center at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday's game is another "Two for Tuesday" sponsored by Prestige Ford. All silver level seats are 2 for 1 at the Nutter Center box office and popcorn, pretzels and hot dogs are 2 for 1 at the concession stands. There will also be a happy hour from 6-7 p.m. compliments of Ovations Catering.
