Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Off to the "A": Gladiators forward Brad Schell was called up to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League on Friday. The Scott, Saskatchewan native made his first trip to the AHL this season while it is the third call up of his career. In two games with the Wolves over the weekend, Schell posted a goal and an assist for Chicago.

Streaking Along! Forward Scott Mifsud collected a goal and an assist in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Charlotte Checkers to match the ECHL season high for longest point scoring streak of the season. Mifsud has now recorded at least one point in 16 straight games for the Gladiators tying teammate Colton Fretter as well as Kevin Baker of Texas for longest point scoring streak of the season. Mifsud has posted 7 goals and 22 assists for the Gladiators during his streak.

Another to 20: Scott Mifsud posted his 20th goal of the season for the Gladiators in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Charlotte. Mifsud becomes the fourth player this season on the Gladiators to post 20 goals joining Colton Fretter (35), Brad Schell (21) and Jon Awe (20) with 20 or more goals on the season. The Gladiators team record for most 20 or more goal scorers in one season is 7 set last year. A handful of players are a few goals shy of 20 this season including Mike Vigilante (18), Chad Painchaud (16), Jamie Milam (15) and Andy Contois (14).

More Records: Colton Fretter added to his Gladiators team record for most goals in a season posting his 35th goal of the year in Wednesday's 7-4 at Florida. Fretter moved ahead of Kevin Doell, who set the original record of 33 during the Gladiators inaugural 2003-04 season, and then matched by Guillaume Desbiens last year. With 35 goals on the season, Fretter needs 10 goals to tie the all time team record of 45 goals set by Mark Turner during the 1999-00 season with the Mobile Mysticks.

Looking for 100: Brad Schell is looking to become the first player to record 100 points in a season since Buddy Smith of the Arkansas RiverBlades notched 104 during the 2002-03 season. Schell currently has 95 points on the year and leads his line mate Scott Mifsud, who ranks second in the league in scoring, by 20 points.
