Third Annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon is Big Success for "Links for Life"

This Week in Condorstown:

Thursday, February 22nd: A Condors player will be a guest on KGET-TV 17 at 6:40 a.m. to talk about the season thus far and what we can expect to see from the Condors this weekend.

Saturday, February 24th: Condors staff member Matt Kato will be a celebrity reader at Russo's Books in the Marketplace. Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will also be in attendance to mingle with kids.

Saturday, February 24th: The Condors will take on the Phoenix Roadrunners and present Youth Jersey Giveaway, courtesy of KGET-TV 17, Big 96.5 and McDonalds. The first 2,000 fans, 12- and-under, will receive a Reagan Leslie replica jersey. Doors open at 6 p.m. Puck drops at 7 p.m.

Week In Review:

Tuesday, February 13th: The 7th Annual Tip-A-Condor Charity Dinner, presented by 107.9 KUZZ, was held at Buck Owens Crystal Palace and raised $23,489 for the Kern County Shrine Club. Live and silent auction were held for various items and Condors players served food and sang karaoke for 'tips.' This year's dinner raised 40% more than last year.

Thursday, February 15th: Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd visited the Neighborhood Place to hang with kids and take pictures.

Thursday, February 15th: Community Relations Manager Jill Watts visited students at Wayside Elementary for the Reach For Greatness Mentoring Program. Watts visits Wayside weekly to be a mentor in efforts to raise students' self-esteem and help them make good choices in life. For more information on how to become a mentor call 831-5337.

Saturday, February 17th: The Condors presented the 3rd Annual Fighting Cancer Hockey- Thon to benefit "Links for Life" a local breast cancer resource center, courtesy of Grand Island Pools, 107.9 KUZZ and Bright House Networks. The total raised in the event will be announced early this week.

The Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon Celebrity Game was highlighted by Steve Dowhy's eight goals. During the game, fans were able to participate in silent auctions for Celebrity Game-worn jerseys and other prizes including a Family 4-Pack of LA Kings tickets, snowboards, and hockey memorabilia. During the intermissions of the Condors game, Celebrity Game jerseys of former Condors were auctioned off. Paul Rosebush's game-worn jersey sold for $1,100.

Tuesday, February 27th: The Condors battle the Roadrunners and present the Help for the Homeless Canned Food Collection, presented by My TV 45 and 96.9 The Beat. All fans who donate two non-perishable food items will receive admission for $1.00. Doors open at 6 p.m. Puck drops at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, February 28th: The Condors will visit Eissler Elementary to read to students and promote the ties between hockey and education.

Friday, March 2nd: The Condors will visit Munsey and Virginia Schools, as well as The Richardson Center to be celebrities readers.

Just for Kids:

Baby Cal and Colonel Claw'd are looking for kids to join the coolest club in Condorstown for only $20. Membership includes a Kid's Club T-shirt, free admission to a game, membership card, and entry into the Kids Club party with Condors players and exclusive gifts provided by the Bakersfield Californian, Bright House Networks and Wells Fargo Bank.

It's Party Time! Condors Kids Club members not only get to have the most exclusive prizes and access to the Kids Zone all season long, but they get to party down with Condors players for a members only Kids Club Party!
