
Las Vegas Receives All-Star Goalie McKenna From Omaha

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced today that goalie Mike McKenna was returned by the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights of the American Hockey League.
Mike McKenna returns from Omaha after his third stint in the AHL this season, his second with the Knights. The 23-year old netminder played in one game for the Knights, suffering a 3-1 loss with 32 saves. With Las Vegas this season, McKenna is one of the best goalies in the ECHL statistically. In 23 games, the St. Louis, MO native is 14-3-6 with a 2.32 goals against average and a .928 save percentage. McKenna ranks first in the ECHL in save percentage, third in goals against average and third in shutouts (3). In two seasons with the Wranglers, McKenna is 33-5-7 with a 2.22 goals against average and a .926 save percentage. He is expected to play on the team's three-game road trip in Victoria this week.
The second-year goalie has attended Omaha's training camp in each of the last two seasons. McKenna was the starting goaltender for the ECHL's National Conference for the 2007 Rbk ECHL All-Star Game in January. McKenna recently had a brief stint with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals, playing in one game and surrendering three goals without a decision. McKenna won eight straight starts for Las Vegas from November 15th to December 29th. McKenna has been named the ECHL Rbk Goalie of the Week twice this season and finished runner-up for the ECHL Rbk Saver of the Month in November.
Las Vegas continues a six-game road trip with three games in Victoria this week. The Wranglers and Salmon Kings meet at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre at 7:05 pm on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Las Vegas returns to home ice on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena against the Idaho Steelheads.
The Wranglers play all 36 home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
