Las Vegas Remains In First Place of Pacific Division

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® posted a 2-1-1 record last week starting with a 4-2 win over Alaska at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday night. Wednesday night, Las Vegas dropped a 5-4 overtime decision in Idaho. Friday night, the Wranglers edged the Steelheads 2-1 in a shootout at Idaho. Saturday night, Las Vegas was defeated 3-1 by Idaho at Qwest Arena. The Wranglers are 6-2-2 in their last ten games played. Las Vegas owns a two-point lead over Bakersfield for first place in the Pacific Division.

Las Vegas continues a six-game road trip with three games in Victoria this week. The Wranglers and Salmon Kings meet at the Save On Foods Memorial Centre at 7:05 pm on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Las Vegas returns to home ice on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena against the Idaho Steelheads.

Alaska 2 at Las Vegas 4

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Alaska Aces 4-2 on Tuesday night in front of 4,155 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers forward Aki Seitsonen netted the eventual game-winning goal at 7:57 of the third period. Forwards Marco Peluso and Steve Crampton each had a goal and an assist for Las Vegas in the victory. Wranglers' goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 30 saves for his fifth straight victory. Aces forward Joe Talbot had a goal and an assist for Alaska in the loss.

Wednesday, February 14th

Las Vegas 4 at Idaho 5 OT

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Idaho Steelheads 5-4 in overtime at the Qwest Arena on Tuesday night. Idaho's Marty Flichel scored his second goal of the night just 36-seconds into overtime to give the Steelheads the win. Las Vegas goalie Marc Magliarditi stopped 23 of 28 Steelheads shots in the loss. Despite Arpad Mihaly, Derek Edwardson and Steve Crampton combining for three goals and five assists, the Wranglers saw their five-game winning streak snapped. Rookie Kelly Czuy also scored as the Wranglers fell to 5-0-2 in their previous seven games played. Idaho's line of Lance Galbraith, Derek Nesbitt and Marty Flichel combined for four goals and five assists. The Wranglers fell to 1-6 in overtimes this season.

Friday, February 16th

Las Vegas 2 at Idaho 1 SO

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Idaho Steelheads 2-1 in a shootout at the Qwest Arena on Friday night. Goalie Kevin Nastiuk made 31 saves for his sixth straight victory. Left wing Arpad Mihaly scored the only goal in regulation for the Wranglers who extended their unbeaten in regulation streak to eight games (6-0-2). Idaho's Scott Burt scored the Steelheads only goal of the night in regulation. Center Tyler Mosienko scored the game-winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout for the win.

Saturday, February 17th

Las Vegas 1 at Idaho 3

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Idaho Steelheads 3-1 at the Qwest Arena on Saturday night. Idaho scored three goals in the second period, ending the Wranglers eight-game unbeaten in regulation string (6-0-2). Goalie Kevin Nastiuk suffered his first loss in his last seven starts, stopping 28 Idaho shots. Defenseman Aaron Power scored the only Las Vegas goal, as the team lost in regulation for the first time since January 31st.

Victoria Salmon Kings - (23-29-1, 47 points, 4th Place, West) -

Victoria leads the season series with a 3-1-0 record, while Las Vegas leads the all-time series with a 13-1-3 record. The Kings are 7-3-0 in their last ten games played and 13-1-2 at home. Winger Wes Goldie is 12th in the ECHL with 56 points and fourth with 32 goals scored. Forward Marc-Andre Bernier has 12 points and a +9 rating in his last ten games played. Victoria is 4-0 in overtimes and 3-1 in shootouts this season. The Salmon Kings rank 21st on the penalty kill and 12th best on the power play.
