Checkers Jakaitis Returns From Monarchs

Charlotte, N.C.-Charlotte Checkers goaltender Jeff Jakaitis has been returned on loan from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

Jakaitis, 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, dressed in 24 games for the Checkers this season with a record of 12-9-2 holding a save percentage of .913 and a goals against average of 2.72 with three shutouts. In his stint with the Monarchs, Jakaitis backed-up one contest.

The Rochester, Minn. native suited up in 36 games for the Columbia Inferno last season compiling a record of 12-14-6 keeping a .906 save percentage and 2.92 goals against average with two shutouts. Jakaitis played three seasons of NCAA hockey for Lake Superior State University dressing in 100 games. In his final collegiate season, Jakaitis posted a robust .931 save percentage with a 2.31 goals against average and three shutouts.

Jakaitis will join the team on the road in Mississippi as the Checkers battle the Sea Wolves tonight at 8:00 p.m.

The Checkers are playing their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Sunday, Jan. 24th against the South Carolina Stingrays at 7 P.M. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
