Stockton's Lalonde Named In Glas Co ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Mike Lalonde of the Stockton Thunder is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for the period of Jan. 12-18.

Lalonde had three goals and eight points to help the Thunder go 3-0-0 and extend their winning streak to seven games.

After tallying four points and a plus-minus rating of +5 in a 7-2 win against Las Vegas on Jan. 16, Lalonde had two points in a 4-3 win against Idaho on Jan. 17 and two assists in a 4-3 overtime win against the Steelheads on Jan. 18.

He is third on the team with 11 goals and 29 points while his 18 assists are tied for third. He played his first two professional seasons in Stockton and had 105 points (52g-53a) in 120 regular season games. He is the Thunder's all-time leader with 63 goals and 134 points in 153 games.

Lalonde played in the Netherlands in 2007-08 and had 92 points (43g-49a) in 34 games for Tilburg. The native of Chetwynd, British Columbia played four years at Michigan State University and had 101 points (50g-51a) in 156 games.

On behalf of Mike Lalonde, a case of pucks will be donated to a Stockton youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 20,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

Peter Laviolette, who began his coaching career with the Wheeling Nailers, led Carolina Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup in 2006.
- There are 18 assistant coaches in the NHL who were players or coaches in the ECHL.
- There are 18 former ECHL officials scheduled to work as part of the NHL officiating team in 2008-09 with referees David Banfield, Chris Ciamaga, Ghislain Hebert, Marc Joannette, Mike Leggo, Wes McCauley, Dean Morton, Dan O'Rourke, Brian Pochmara, Kevin Pollock, Kyle Rehman, Chris Rooney, Justin St. Pierre and Ian Walsh and linesmen Steve Barton, Brian Mach, Tim Nowak and Jay Sharrers. - In the last six seasons the ECHL has had more call-ups to the AHL than all other professional leagues combined with over 2,000 call-ups involving more than 1,000 players since 2002-03.
