Lalonde Named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced in conjunction with the ECHL that left wing Mike Lalonde (la-LAHND) has been named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 12-18.

The honor is the second straight this season for a Thunder player (Cory Urquhart was In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 5-11) and the first of Lalonde's career.

Lalonde had three goals and eight points (3g-5a) to help the Thunder go 3-0-0 and extend their winning streak to seven games.

After tallying a career-high tying four points (2g-2a) and a plus-minus rating of +5 in a 7-2 win against Las Vegas on Jan. 16, Lalonde had two points (1g-1a) in a 4-3 win against Idaho on Jan. 17 and two assists in a 4-3 overtime win against the Steelheads on Jan. 18.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound forward ranks third on the team with 11 goals and 29 points (11g-18a) while his 18 assists are tied for third.

Lalonde played his first two professional seasons in Stockton, was a member of the Thunder inaugural opening night roster and had 105 points (52g-53a) in 120 regular season games. He stands as the Thunder's all-time leader with 63 goals and 134 points in 153 games.

Lalonde played in the Netherlands in 2007-08 and had 92 points (43g-49a) in 34 games for Tilburg. The native of Chetwynd, British Columbia played four years at Michigan State University (NCAA) and had 101 points (50g-51a) in 156 games.

On behalf of Mike Lalonde, a case of pucks will be donated to a Stockton youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 20,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

TRANSACTION ALERT: LaFRANCE RECALLED, KINLEY PLACED ON I.R., ADAMEK RETURNS The Thunder also announced center Toby LaFrance has been recalled by the Springfield Falcons today, defenseman Cleve Kinley has been placed on the three-day injured reserve list and defenseman Mark Adamek has been activated off injured reserve.

Adamek is expected to suit up for the Thunder tonight (7:30 p.m./1420 KSTN and StocktonThunder.com) against the Phoenix RoadRunners at Stockton Arena.

Adamek, 26, has skated in 28 games for the Thunder this season, posting six assists and 24 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound defenseman has appeared in 159 games in a Thunder uniform over the course of four professional seasons, scoring 24 points (5g-19) and amassing 121 penalty minutes.

LaFrance, 21, is under contract to Springfield of the AHL and leaves the Thunder after scoring 17 points (5g-12a) while posting eight penalty minutes in 29 ECHL games this season. The 5-foot-9, 189-pound forward made his pro debut with the Texas Wildcatters (ECHL) last season, scoring two goals in two games while posting four points (2g-2a) in eight Kelly Cup Playoff games.

The Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for three consecutive seasons and drew 239,337 fans to Stockton Arena in 2007-08.
