PAPILLION, NEB. - Behind a good start from Major League rehabber Ryan Yarbrough and a trio of home runs, the Omaha Storm Chasers evened this week's series against the Iowa Cubs with a 8-3 win.

With just one out in the first inning, Iowa's Major League rehabber Patrick Wisdom took Yarbrough deep with a two-run homer, giving the I-Cubs an early 2-0 lead.

Yarbrough settled into a groove after the home run, retiring 12 of his final 13 with nine strikeouts, including five straight between the first and third innings. The one batter he allowed to reach came on a walk to Nelson Velázquez the fourth inning, soon erased as he was caught stealing by Logan Porter to end the inning

After Yarbrough struck out the side in the top of the second, Adeiny Hechavarría brought Omaha within a run in the bottom half on a solo home run. After Clay Dungan singled, Angelo Castellano connected on a two-run homer to give Omaha a 3-2 lead that the Chasers held onto for the rest of the night.

Nine of Omaha's 12 hits Thursday landed for extra bases, including a pair in the fifth as Nate Eaton mashed his second double of the night to lead off the inning, then promptly scored on a Tucker Bradley triple.

After John Rave walked to open the sixth, Porter doubled him in and soon came around to score on a double from Tyler Gentry, at the time giving the Storm Chasers a 6-2 lead.

Brewer Hicklen brought Dungan home with a sacrifice fly in the seventh, then Rave hit an opposite field home run for Omaha's eighth unanswered run of the night.

After Yarbrough was removed from the game in the fifth inning, Mike Mayers (3-1) followed behind him with 2.0 perfect innings and the two combined to face the minimum over a stretch of 19 batters between the first and sixth innings.

Christian Chamberlain followed Mayers and walked his first batter, then got a strikeout to end the seventh inning.

Iowa's third and final hit of the game also produced the Cubs' third and final run of the night, as Jonathan Heasley surrendered a leadoff home run in the eighth, though Heasley retired his next three to end the inning.

While Will Klein walked the bases loaded in the ninth, he worked out of trouble with a pair of strikeouts to finish the game, Omaha's first win of the second half.

All nine Storm Chasers hitters recorded a hit in Thursday's win, while the eight runs were driven in by seven different players.

Omaha will try and take its second straight game over Iowa on Friday, as right-hander Max Castillo heads to the mound with a 7:05 p.m. CT first pitch at Werner Park.
