A Quiet Iowa Offense Leads to Game Two Loss

PAPILLION, NE - The Iowa Cubs (44-31) dropped game two of their six game series against the Omaha Storm Chasers (39-35) tonight. The I-Cubs' three hits matched their season-low hit total which led to their 8-3 loss.

Iowa broke open scoring early in the top of the first inning. In his first at-bat since re-joining Iowa today. Miles Mastrobuoni singled. Patrick Wisdom, who is with Iowa on Major League Rehab, clubbed a two-run homer to give the I-Cubs an early lead.

It wasn't long before the Storm Chasers answered back. Home runs from Adeiny Hechavarria and Angelo Castellano gave them a 3-2 lead headed into the third. With a Nate Eaton double and Tucker Bradley triple, they tacked on another run in the fifth inning.

Omaha went on to score again in the sixth, plating two after a pair of doubles from Logan Porter and Tyler Gentry. Their lead was extended once again to 7-2 after a sacrifice fly in the seventh. In that same inning, John Rave clubbed Omaha's third home run of the game, a solo shot.

The I-Cubs recorded their first hit and run since the first inning with a Jake Slaughter solo home run in the top of the eighth. Scoring would stop for both sides following the long ball.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- With his home run today, Slaughter has now homered in back-to-back games for the fourth time this season. His longest home run streak is three games which came May 4 through May 6 and is the only I-Cub to homer in three straight.

- The season series between the I-Cubs and Storm Chasers is now tied at three with 16 scheduled matchups remaining.
