Indy Fuel News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - In the first of three head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel defeated the South Carolina Stingrays in a shootout on Saturday at North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, South Carolina by a final score of 2-1. With the win, the Fuel improved to 9-21-4-3 overall this season and with 25 points, remain alone in seventh place in the ECHL's North Division standings.

After a scoreless first period, Kirill Gotovets claimed a 1-0 Fuel lead at 7:37 of the second on a right-point, four-on-four release, assisted by Kyle Stroh and Dillon Fournier. Stingrays captain Adam Rowe equalized at 11:58 of the third and after a scoreless overtime period, the two teams headed to a shootout.

After Fournier and Mike Duco were denied in the first two rounds for the Fuel, Kyle Stroh and Evan Vossen buried for Indy in rounds three and four as Fuel goaltender Mac Carruth stopped all four Stingrays shootout offerings to deliver Indy a 2-1 victory. Carruth was stellar in the win, delivering a 36-save performance in the Fuel's second consecutive victory and the team's third win in four games. Indy has now claimed seven of their past eight possible standings points.

Next up for the Fuel, it's the final game of the team's four-game southern road trip with the opening faceoff set for Monday at 12:35 pm vs. the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia.
