Jordan Sims Joins His Dad in Evansville & IceMen Resign Anthoine

EVANSVILLE, Ind.- Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, Head Coach, Al Sims added a player he has a lot of familiarity with on Saturday when he brought in his own son, Jordan Sims to join the IceMen. Evansville also resigned forward, Mark Anthoine. Forwards, Danny Hobbs and Jakub Culek were both recalled by the Binghamton Senators of the AHL.

Jordan Sims potted six goals and dealt out seven assists in 23 games with the Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL so far this season. The 23-year-old also played five games with the Idaho Steelheads earlier this year.

A product of the University of Connecticut, Sims scored 101 points in 146 career games with the Huskies. Collegiately, Sims posted his best season as a junior with career highs in goal (10) and assists (21).

The Evansville IceMen have also resigned forward Mark Anthoine. The rookie played four games with the IceMen in 2013-14., Anthoine skated with the IceMen during the exhibition season.

Anthoine started the regular season with the Pensicola Ice Flyers then moved to the Huntsvile Havoc. The University of Maine graduate netted three goals and four assists in 12 games in Alabama.

The Lewiston, ME native played 40 games for the Black Bears in 2011-12, scoring a career best 12 goals. Three times during his junior hockey career Anthoine earned an all-star nod.

Hobbs has four goals and two assists in 13 games with the IceMen. Because of ailments, Hobbs has not played since Dec. 27.

After missing two months of action due to injury, Culek returned and had success during the IceMen's three game road trip from Jan. 9-11. Culek had a three game point streak during this span with two goals and two assists.

Anthoine and Sims are expected to join The IceMen tonight when they return to home ice to host the Cincinnati Cyclones. Evansville will try to use the force to defeat the dark side (Cincinnati) at the IceMen's annual Star Wars night.

On Jan. 19, the IceMen will host the Cincinnati Cyclones again. Evansville fans can get upper bowl tickets for just $5 with the Evansville Courier & Press Front Page Fan Ad. The Ford Center will treat fans to $1 soft drinks and $1 popcorns for this Martin Luther King day game.

Single game tickets are on sale now for all games including Star Wars Night at the Ford Center Box Office Monday through Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m and after noon on game days.
