Forward Kevin Goumas Recalled to Lehigh Valley
January 17, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, today announced that forward Kevin Goumas has been recalled to the Phantoms. In a separate transaction, goaltender Joe Howe was loaned to the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL. In other transactions announced today, the Royals: (i) signed defenseman Gentry Zollars to an ECHL contract; and (ii) signed goaltender Chris Bourgeios as an Emergency Backup.
Goumas, a first year pro who hails from Long Beach, New York, was loaned from the Phantoms to the Royals on Thursday. He played Reading's 4-2 loss to the Elmira Jackals last night without registering any points or penalty minutes.
This is the second trip of the year to Manchester for Howe, who was loaned by the Royals to the Monarchs in early January but did not appear in a game during that stint. Last night, although he was not the goaltender of record, Howe made thirteen saves on fourteen shots in 44:22 after coming on in substitution of starter Connor Knapp. Howe has now appeared in two games for the Royals and has a 1-0-0-0 record with a 2.31 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. Overall this season in the ECHL, including eight appearances for the Utah Grizzlies, Howe has a record of 4-3-0-2 with a 3.40 GAA and .889 save percentage
Zollars (5'11/196) (29), a fifth year pro from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, recorded four points (1g-3a) and nine penalty minutes in twenty games with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL this season. Over the past four years, Zollars, who played two seasons for the UMass-Boston, has picked up fourteen points (3g-11a) and sixty-one penalty minutes in ninety total ECHL games with Trenton, Orlando, Wheeling, Greenville and Utah.
