'Cakes Roll in 11-4 Win at Vegas

New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release


LAS VEGAS - The Baby Cakes get a season high 18 hits and ride a terrific pitching performance from Cody Poteet for an 11-4 win over the Las Vegas Aviators.

Poteet earned his first Triple-A win in his sixth start of the season. He worked seven innings allowed four runs on six hits.

The 'Cakes offense scored four first inning runs to jump on Aviators starting pitcher Brian Howard. New Orleans added a solo home run from Magneuris Sierra in the second inning to extend the advantage to 5-0. Tyler Heineman had three hits in five at bats, homered and drove in three. Gabriel Guerrero also had three hits and three RBI including a home run.

Jesus Sanchez in his debut had one hit in five at bats.

The win gets the 'Cakes a series win in Las Vegas and improves their record to 57-51.

GAME NOTES- The Marlins promoted pitcher Kyle Keller from the 'Cakes and New Orleans added reliever Dylan Lee from Class AA Jacksonville. The 'Cakes also added outfielder Jesus Sanchez from the Tampa Rays, acquired in a trade on Wednesday.
