Payamps Nearly Perfect Thursday Night in Reno

Reno, Nevada. - Joel Payamps and the Aces pitching staff brought their best stuff tonight against the Iowa Cubs. For the first time since August 9, 2009, the Aces allowed just one hit in a complete-game victory. The 25-year-old right-hander went seven innings of one-run, one-hit baseball tonight. Payamps was perfect until a high fly ball by Treant Giambrone was lost in the center-field sun and resulted in an inside-the-park home run. Alberto Rosario singled in Ben DeLuzio for the first run of the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth inning and saw the score tied in the fifth. The score remained tied at one until the bottom of the eighth. With two runners on and two outs, Rosario drove in Blake Swihart and Jamie Westbrook to give Reno a 3-1 lead. Kevin Ginkel came on in the ninth to close things out and give the Aces their 50th victory of the season and eighth in nine games. Reno will welcome the Omaha Storm Chasers tomorrow night at Greater Nevada Field. The first pitch on Fireworks Friday is slated for 7:05 p.m.

One Hit: The combination of Joel Payamps, Marc Rzepczynski and Kevin Ginkel allowed just one hit on Thursday night. This had happened just one time in franchise history - August 9, 2009. Joel Payamps was 15 years old.

Lots of Fun: The Reno Aces have partnered with Amplify Life for an eighth consecutive season to host the annual Camp Lotsafun scrimmage with the Aces players on Friday, August 2. This event provides a unique community experience that will allow the campers to play baseball on Greater Nevada Field before Friday's game against the Omaha Storm Chasers. Between 20-30 campers will have the opportunity to join the Aces on the field from 5:00-5:45 p.m. for a fun baseball game. Additionally, each camper receives a complimentary ticket to stay for the Aces game that follows. The game with Camp Lotsafun is part of the Reno Aces ongoing efforts to give back to the Northern Nevada community.

Home Run For Life: The Reno Aces will host their fifth Saint Mary's "Home Run for Life" ceremony of 2019, featuring Mackenzie and Parker Hodges, on Friday, August 2 when the Aces take on the Omaha Storm Chasers at 7:05 p.m. at Greater Nevada Field. Parker and Mackenzie will round the bases commemorating their "Home Run for Life" in the middle of the second inning Friday night. The Reno Aces and Omaha players and staff will be lined up along each baseline to greet her as they make their way toward home plate while their story of adversity and triumph is publicly announced to the stadium crowd.
