Bulldogs win again in overtime

HAMILTON, ON - Tomas Plekanec scored at the 2:44 mark of overtime to give the Hamilton Bulldogs a 5-4 overtime win over the visiting Chicago Wolves on Sunday. The Bulldogs have now won three overtime games this season on home ice. Hamilton's record improves to seven wins, five losses, one tie and one overtime loss.

The Bulldogs were led offensively by captain Benoit Gratton on Sunday night, as he posted four points on two goals and two assists. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Pierre Dagenais (2) and Plekanec. In the past four games Dagenais has recorded six goals.

Former Bulldogs forward Brian Swanson had an exceptional night in his return visit to Copps Coliseum. Swanson, the Bulldogs all-time leading scorer, had three goals and one assist for Chicago. Steve Maltais scored the other Chicago goal.

Bulldogs goaltender Eric Fichaud stopped 25 shots in the victory and improved his record to 5-3-0 on the season. Kari Lehtonen made 24 saves in the Wolves loss.

On special teams the Bulldogs did not score on the power play. Chicago scored one power play goal on six opportunities with the man-advantage.

The Hamilton Bulldogs next home game will take place on Friday, November 14th as they host the Toronto Roadrunners at Copps Coliseum. Montreal Canadiens legendary forward Guy Lafleur will be in attendance at this game.
