Bulldogs Earn Five of Six Points on the Weekend

The Hamilton Bulldogs had a great weekend, as they earned five of a possible six points in three games. Hamilton defeated the St. John's Maple Leafs on Friday 5-4 (ot), skated to a 2-2 tie in Grand Rapids versus the Griffins on Saturday, and then finished the weekend on Sunday with another 5-4 overtime win against the Chicago Wolves. The Bulldogs have now moved into a first-place tie in the North Division with the Syracuse Crunch, and St. John's Maple Leafs (16 points). Hamilton currently has a record of seven wins, five losses, one tie and one overtime loss.

This week the Bulldogs will play a pair of home games at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs will host former Bulldogs head coach Geoff Ward and the Toronto Roadrunners at Copps Coliseum - Friday, November 14th (7:00 p.m.). Montreal Canadiens forward and Hockey Hall of Famer Guy Lafleur will drop the puck for the ceremonial face-off. The Bulldogs will finish the weekend by facing their long time division rivals, the Rochester Americans, in Hamilton on Saturday, November 15th (7:00 p.m.)

GRATTON AND DAGENAIS RECORD SEVEN POINTS OVER THE WEEKEND:

Bulldogs forwards Benoit Gratton and Pierre Dagenais each recorded seven points in the past three games. Gratton posted two goals and five assists, while Pierre Dagenais earned five goals and two assists. Gratton and Dagenais currently have 14 points on the season and are currently tied with four other players for the AHL scoring lead.

BALEJ CONTINUES POINT STREAK:

Second-year winger Jozef Balej has been one of the most consistent Bulldogs players this season. Balej has recorded at least one-point in the past eight games. As well, Balej has scored one or more points in eleven of fourteen games this season. The native of Myjava, Slovakia, has 13 points on the season (4-9-13), which is second best in the AHL.

BULLDOGS WINNING IN OVERTIME:

The Hamilton Bulldogs past three victories have came in overtime. The Bulldogs overtime record currently stands at three wins, one loss and one tie. Last season, the Bulldogs did not win a single game in overtime as they posted a record of four losses and eight ties.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

Through 14 games the Bulldogs have a 12.1% success rate on the power play (8 for 66). Hamilton has killed off 85.5% (65 for 76) of the opposition's power plays.

JOE CAHILL HOSTS 'DOGBITES WEELY RADIO SHOW on 820 CHAM & 610 CKTB

Legendary radio personality Joe Cahill will host 'DOGBITES - a weekly half-hour Hamilton Bulldogs radio show on Hamilton's 820 CHAM. Bulldogs play-by-play announcer Derek Wills will join Joe Cahill. The weekly show will feature Bulldogs interviews, highlights from the past week, trivia and much more.

Saturday's game will mark the Amerks first trip to Copps Coliseum this season ... the Bulldogs have earned a record of one win and one loss in two previous meetings at Rochester this season ... the Amerks have a record of (1W-2L-2T-1OTL) on the road this season ... all-time the Bulldogs have earned 28 wins, 34 losses and 6 ties against the Amerks ... Hamilton will once again host Rochester on Nov. 29th at Copps Coliseum.

BULLDOGS TO BE FEATURED 610 CKTB:

For the first time ever, Hamilton Bulldogs hockey will be heard on St. Catharines 610 CKTB. This Saturday's game versus the Rochester Americans will be the first of eight games to be heard on 610 CKTB. Derek Wills and Al Craig will call all the action live.
