Allen, Texas - The Laredo Bucks won the first of five straight against the Allen Americans 4-3 on Friday night, scoring with 15.1 seconds remaining in overtime on Kyle Mariani's 4th goal of the season.

The Bucks opened the scoring in the first period, just 3:40 in, on the power play, when Bucks forward Mark Nebus scored on a backhander in front of the net that got past Americans goalie, Rejean Beauchemin to make it 1-0 Laredo. The Americans responded less than a minute later when defenseman Tyler Ludwig scored his first of the season on a blast from the slot area that got past Bucks goalie, Ryan Rondeau to tie the score at 1-1. Less than two minutes later, the Americans grabbed the lead on Colton Yellow Horn's first of the night at 6:24 of the period, to make it 2-1 Allen. Yellow Horn added another, three minutes later, on a beautiful pass from Bruce Graham from the right side to the front of the net. Yellow Horn slid one through the five-hole to give the Americans a two goal lead at 3-1. The Bucks would score their second power play goal of the period, late in the first, on Rusty Masters' 5th of the season from Neil Trimm and Adam Rivet at 19:34, to cut the lead to one, 3-2 after 20 minutes of play.

The Bucks tied the score in the second period on Mark Nebus' second goal of the night, and 7th of the season at 8:04, Rusty Masters and Adam Rivet drew the assists and the Americans' two goal first period lead was gone. The Americans outshot the Bucks 13-9 in the second, for a 22-18 shot advantage through two periods of play.

Neither team scored in the third period, with the Americans and Bucks totaling just thirteen shots. In overtime the Bucks would get their second win at the Allen Event Center in less than two weeks, when Bucks defenseman Kyle Mariani followed up a Rusty Masters shot in front of the net with just 15.1 seconds left in overtime, nabbing their 11th win of the season. The loss combined with the Wichita win drops the Americans one point behind first place Thunder in the Berry Conference.
