
Bucks Win Big In Overtime

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, defeated the Allen Americans 4-3 in overtime.
The Laredo Bucks and the Allen Americans faced each other for the fourth time this season Friday night. This was the first of five consecutive meetings for the two teams.
The Bucks were the first to light the lamp. Mark Nebus scored on a backhand shot only four seconds into the man advantage. Nebus was assisted by Rusty Masters at 3:50 in the first. Less than one minute later Tyler Ludwig, of the Americans, tied the game at 4:40 on a powerplay. The Americans jumped out to a 3-1 lead after Colton Yellowhorn scored two goals. The Bucks cut the Americans lead to only one goal with 26 seconds left in the period when Rusty Masters scored a powerplay goal. Neil Trimm and Adam Rivet had assists on the goal. The Bucks and Americans each had 9 shots of goal in the first period.
The second period belonged to the Bucks. Mark Nebus scored his second goal of the game when he knocked in a rebound at 8:04. Rusty Masters and Adam Rivet assisted on the game tying goal. This would be the only goal of the period.
The Bucks and Americans played a tight third period. Neither team was able to break the 3-3 tie during the period. The Bucks outshot the Americans 7-6 in the frame.
Laredo and Allen battled during the overtime period. However, the Bucks were able to take home the victory when Kyle Mariani jammed in the rebound with only 15 seconds remaining in overtime. Rusty Masters and Adam Rivet assisted on the game winning goal.
The Laredo Bucks have two games remaining in their seven game road trip. They will face the Americans again tomorrow- December 31st. The Bucks' next home game will be Saturday January 7th at 7:30pm, when they face the Americans at the Laredo Energy Arena.
