Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced that Rapid City Rush Head Equipment Manager Romeo Vivit has been selected to the training staff of the 2012 CHL All-Star Game scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in Prescott Valley, Arizona. The game's format will feature the host Arizona Sundogs taking on a team of CHL All-Stars. Vivit becomes the third member of the Rush organization selected to be a part of this season's All-Star Game, joining forward Jesse Schultz and defenseman Riley Weselowski.
Last season, Vivit earned the honor of being named the Gunner Garrett Equipment Manager of the Year in just his second season with the Rush. This will mark Vivit's second-consecutive All-Star Game, as he also worked last season's event which was hosted by the Rush.
"I'm very grateful for having the honor of being named the 2010-2011 CHL Equipment Manager of the Year, therefore representing the Rapid City Rush in the 2012 CHL All-Star Game," said Vivit. "It wouldn't have been possible without the entire Rapid City Rush organization giving me the opportunity, as well as the entire Rapid City community believing in me. I owe a lot to my parents and family for showing me what it means to persevere and work hard to be successful. I also owe a great amount to the Rapid City community for the support and helping me out when times ran thin. I would like to thank all of my fellow equipment managers and athletic trainers for their assistance over the years."
Vivit previously tried out for the team as a player during their inaugural season training camp and then later worked with the team as an assistant equipment manager. He then replaced Shawn Smith after the 2009 CHL Gunner Garret Equipment Manager of the Year winner moved up to the American Hockey League with Abbotsford.
The Park Ridge, Illinois native's passion for playing the game lives on as the Hockey Director for the City of Rapid City and as a volunteer coach, skills developer and consultant for the Rushmore Thunder Youth Hockey Association.
